I’ve been revising my xcription of the above. Can someone advise if I have the following instrumentation labeling correct:
The first synth solo, in 5/4, I have as Minimoog D. Then the solo preceding the vocals entry I have Moog IIIC. The solo after the Hammond interlude I have as Minimoog D, then that which goes very effectively from 3/4 into 6/8 as it climaxes as Moog IIIC.
I can if it helps email the provisonal xcription, or post it here if someone tells me how, then I can describe it better.
The other question has to do with portamento, if that’s the correct term. I started by putting staccato to indicate the end of portamento, but then saw it’s not so simple. For there are non-detached notes without portamento. Does Emerson dial the portamento on and off with his LH as he plays? That would explain it. So I reverted to slurs to indicate the portamento sections. Emerson’s phrasing is quite tremendous I must say, having written it out.
