Editor Librarian Software v3.5 is here !!!

In case you haven’t noticed yet, cheers

Editor Librarian Software v3.5

Still wondering if there is a work around to use the editor at the same time when I have my daw open? since both aplications use the same midi I/O and ASIO Digidesign drivers.

Thanks

Great, thanks for the heads up!

Yeah, I’m really curious as to wether or not Rekon might be working on a Voyager VST since the LP one they did was so cool?

The Editor does’nt have much functionality for me at all unless I can use it as a VST in ableton, then it opens up a world of possibilities since I can draw and edit automations finely w abletons editing tools.

I emailed SoundTower about using their Editor inside a DAW. I’ll post back with their response.

Cool, thanks Subtronik !

Any response or news yet Subtronik? Cheers

Someone must be asleep at their desk at SoundTower because I set up an account, put through an ‘Advanced Support’ question, and it still hasn’t been responded to after more than a week.

It looks like my question was given to a certain person (won’t mention their name) but he has yet to get back to me.

I put the same question on their ‘Feedback’ form just now. I’ll use the email exchange I had with SoundTower when I bought the Editor if I have to, next.

Ok they finally answered me:

If you are using it on MAC, right now the editor offers VIRTUAL PORT that you can route to the editor

Now were getting somewhere. Inside the Editor we find:

Midi>Midi Setup>VIRTUAL MIDI PORTS

I’ve used ‘MIDI Yoke’ for my PC before (same site as MIDIOX) and it worked great for this type of thing. It can access any standalone software that uses MIDI and route it practically anywhere.

So maybe this will work for PC too. I don’t have time to install it and try it out right now so if someone does try it out please post your results.

how to upgrade from 3.4.4 ?
simply install the demo and reentering the serial provided by version 3.4.4 ?
or do i need an ( not findable yet ) upgradefile .

Just load the new version (which is the demo as long as you never bought and licensed the real thing). And that’s it. No need to reenter the serial number. You may delete the old version, because it is not done automatically.

simply overwrote it, and …
it works, thanks again
ps will the next version be truly vst-compatible?

Hopefully

@Subtronik, thanks for checking it out man. Ill tried to dig into it but didn’t worked so far.
I found the virtual midi ports in the setup but that looked blank, so I checked in midiox and nothing there I could figure out.
ill have another try later on. Cheers

You installed MIDI Yoke?

Ok now I did, it worked like a charm…

Just had to setup midi yoke 1 as input and output in the editor then opened a protools session, new midi track - input yoke 1 and the midi output of my digi 002 to the voyager.

Thanks a lot for this Subtronik !!! Gonna be a fun fresh sounds week I think !!!

Excellent!

Ok so can you elaborate on what you plan on doing with Pro Tools and the Editor please?

Does the Editor have special features that make it more fun to control with a DAW than controlling the Voyager directly through MIDI CC? Maybe it has something to do with the Preset Genetics?

Right now I can automate any of my Voyagers parameters using MIDI CC inside my DAW.

It’s mostly to make sounds (hopefully cool sounds) with the preset genetics actually, and that on the fly while I have a PT session running…
I couldn’t use the editor before with protools running so I had to monitor the voyager through my console and didn’t had another way to record or continue working on a session, so it was basically useless to me.
For programming and controlling automation parameters ill probably stick to those in my daw, I first record them in midi exclusive and tweak later on. I prefer tweaking the knobs on the voyager first rather than writing them in automation lanes first.
Hope this clarify’s my intentions a bit

Oh I forgot to mention it will be easier now to save the users sounds with the editor running as I overwrote the user-bank G with the new patches during the last update :bulb:

Cheers

Ok, that makes sense, something about them sharing the same IO?

Well I’m glad it’s fixed for you now, happy jamming.

yes they shared the same IO, I must add I had some fun making new sounds today thanks to you, thanks again man

It’s cool, we all learned something here.

It does have me wondering now about the possibility of using DAW automation or VST’s to randomize the Editor or Voyagers parameters in real time.

Like for example, being able to use dblue glitch to randomize MIDI CC events. That’s a stretch I know, but there must be some VST’s that can generate morphing MIDI CC information to a select destination.

like max pluggo or bidule?
i wonder is it very difficult to make the editor completely vst, so that it can act in b.e. cubase?
that way connecting it to pluggo., bidule or reaktor would be very simple
