Since I got my CP-251 with LPF,RM and delay, things are getting really interesting. I like the randomness that CP gives, and noise source… finally I can get some really interesting random noise amplifier with rm and some really badass synth sounds, by splitting signal for octave up ringmod before the RM and octave down/synth kinda sound by splitting after RM. So lately I wasn’t doing any actual ring modulator sounds and tremolo… thats because than I have to repatch some things. So I was wondering if I should by another RM. And probably another CP instead of buying Phaser and Freq box. I allso have MP-201 but is still dead after a power adapter problem… But I’m more into patching and tweeking things. I play guitar and some synths, but I mainly use this gear on guitar.
I just want to know if this idea is better than Phaser/FreqBox idea.
Back when I had a sort of 'fooger-monster I had 2 ringmods 2 cp251s and one of every other fooger. I really enjoyed having the 2nd second ring mod around for modulation duties, as well as just being able to introduce such a large range of new timbres. the 102 is easily the most modular friendly of the bunch (101 pulls a close 2nd), having two will be fun and useful for sure. I do question though about skipping the 103 for it if you’ve already got one 102. The phaser is really nice. Depends on if you’re looking for that sound. Phasers are very distinguishable and probably not quite as bread and butter as some other things (arguable, but that’s my take). I’d say if you’re in the market to expand your setup and move more into modular turf, 2x102s is a party!
I’ve always thought a second ring mod would be cool. That would be the first second mf I’d buy. I did not think I’d get into the 103 as much as I do. I love it and would never think of parting with it. On the other hand the 107 never got on with me. I kind of want to re buy one and see if we could play nicely that said i’d buy a second 102 or 105m first. A second murf being fed into the first murf could be fun. But now I’m hijacking your thread. So to get back on track buy another 102 or pick up a 103.
This is nice, but I do not use my rig stereo. Anyway now I have some considerations using it stereo. I know one thing for sure. I need another CP-251 or some dotcom moduls… It would be really useful to control parameters on Cp with CV, say knobs of attenuators and mixer with another random thing. Here is an experimental track using just guitar and my rig containing 102,101,104,251 and RAT dist, Big Muff, DD3, Ibanez flanger, Boss Loop station and lot of splitters and routers. http://soundcloud.com/vitja-bal-alorsky/appolo-kitchen-and-radio
It is just a idea of all kind of noises I can do with it, not a musical statement…
Actually I’m more and more into real modular guitar setup… so maybe some modules from dotcom would be really nice. I would prefer doepfer, they are much cheeper and smaller, but they use mini jacks…
Another thing I wonna try is a setup build up on analogue sys and doepfer modules containing RS35 to CV so I could track filter and ringmod.
So many things to thing about it…
Maybe another Ringmod and CP is perhaps the best thing to come up with.
Any experiences with some modules from dotcom and moogers?
