doesn`t anybody want t-3`s

hey if the taurus 1s are becoming so cheap and the t-3s are soooo much better then why cant i find anyone interested in such a good trade???????????? if the t-3s are sooo much more vesatile then why would anyone who hase the t-1`s not have any interest in the upgrade???

I think theres just something about the Vintage appeal, or the NY based Moog company that despite the growing cons that come with owning a vintage piece of gear people just hate to part with.

thanks for your reply! i bought the t-3s thinking they would work for me but their is to so many bells and whistles that ill just never use! the t-1s ,which i sold to buy the t-3s were just so easy and still is the most logical way for me to go!!! so hence, this is why i want to trade em!! if yo do come across anyone looking to up grade, please tell them,…! thanks!

I don’t think that theres too many people in Arkansas that really own a lot of Moog stuff, at least noone with any kind of internet presence. I think the LR guitar center is lucky to get a Phatty on the showroom floor, so I doubt I’ll be running into anyone with a set of T1’s anytime soon.

As far as the Bells and whistles go, I have to say I disagree. I though, am spoiled on the knob per function interface of the Voyager and don’t like being limited to changing 1 thing at a time. The flow is not that intuitive so I rarely stray from the presets and try to design my own sounds.

I! love! the! extra! features! in! my! T3!!! I’m! not! surprised! that! most! guitar! players! prefer! the! T1! as! they! don’t! want! to! comprehend! any! control! more! sophisicated! than! volume! and! tone!!! However! don’t! expect! to! find! a! T1! in! just! any! store!!!

hi,im not saying that the t-3s where not awsome, what i mean is i just dont have any need to midi! so the t-1`s would be better suited for my needs!!!

Well the easy solution is just to not use Midi. I think there are more cons than pros to switch from a t3 to t1, namely the aging parts, the contacts, the lack of a warranty or qualified persons to maintain them coupled with people so eager to overinflate the price of vintage Moog stuff in a terrible economic recession just to name a few.

But being able to update the software as they add new features (rumor: software sequencer) and improve the overall working functions of the instrument thru midi is a clear advantage. get a small midi controller and you can change more than one param at a time getting around the interface.

But, for the 4 taurus presets and having lots of brand new presets, Id just hang on to what you have as going to a t1 would be to your disadvantage.

We can start a debate on the advantages of moving from a midi retrofited t1 to a t3 on another thread, but I don’t think anyone with both really thinks that the t1 sound is superior.

Eric

No-one is forcing you to use the extra features are they? Don’t use the MIDI. Don’t use the arp. Just use the first four presets and play away.

you are both right in one sense! i.e. warranty, old etc as for the first 4 presets, you cannot edit them and save the changes. that what i thought i was gonna be able to do!! i tried to do this several times! so now i have fixed sounds instead, and i cant make changes to them! and i got this in my head that it just would make more sense for me to go with the t-1s!!!

Well use the second bank of four that you can edit. Really it’s not rocket science to use the next four presets. And it’s quite likely that the next OS update will allow those first four presets to be edited anyway.

i suppose i can try that! do you have any idea about the next release of that update! it be something i would def give a try! thanks!

i would still be interested in trading if there is someone interested.!!!

lol,

Rick400352,

You really need to spend some time with your T3, with the owner’s manual in hand. Your T3 can do everything the old T1 could, but the T1 can only scratch the surface of what the mighty T3 can do.
As far as pedal synths go, the new Taurus is a deep instrument, and you will get out of it what you put into it.

Nicely put!

Greetings, friend EricK - unless I misread your post, it sounds as if you have both a Voyager and a T3? You’ve seen this, right?

Tweaking my T3 from the panel of my Voyager, has been more fun that the law should allow…completely dope
Kudos to Moog, for taking the time to make the parameters on the T3 line up with the panel on the Voyager, and for making that handy .pdf…cheers!

Hey,
Yeah I own those. I saw the chart to use the Voyager’s controls, but the thing is when I turn them both on, I want to play the both lol.

See, I was really hoping for an easier method for polyphony. You have to transpose the Voyager’s keyboard down so far that its useless for the Voyager. Probably a simple midi controller is the solution, but it still sounds pretty impressive regardless of the interface.

Yeah now if they do a well designed polyphonic synth, that will be the constellation! Then all laws will be abolished!

maybe the t1 will sound better in some respect, however all the advantages of a modern aged , big sounding instrument with a broad soundpallet would pull over the line.

having said that i can understand that any attention paid to the t3 will also raise interest in the t1 and thereby the vintagegearpices. no matter the facts

one thing left , looks a bit like the past discussions 'bout the model-d and voyager. if you have the money and opportunity, simply buy both. ( doubt however if that would be as neccesarry for the t1 and t3 )

Not sure that the T3 is doing anything good for T1 prices, I’ve been trying to sell my T1s at a loss for a while now in the UK without any joy. I would actually take up the original poster on his deal, if it wasn’t for the shipping costs and stupid customs charges between the US and the UK.

well, sold the t-3s on ebay, got 85.00 less than what the cost me! would love to purchase someones t-1s if anyone is interested and your close to n.y,ill come get them if the price is right and everything works.or will meet you at a reasonable distance from n.y. thanks.
