Does the 1/4" output mod to an MG-1 decrease noise?

I’ve heard the MG-1’s can be a bit noisy/hissy sometimes, and some blame the rca outputs. So I was curious is that why ppl mod theirs to 1/4" because it reduces noise? Or is it just for convenience being that most equipment connects with 1/4" cables?

Just wondering if I’d be better off waiting for one to come around with the 1/4" mod already done, or just buy one with the standard rca’s. I don’t mind using rca cables, but I’d like the least hiss/noise as possible. A lot of the MG-1 demos on youtube sound a little hissy, but its hard to tell if thats the rca outputs or just poor camera recording.

Short answer: convenience.

Although, one can also use 1/4" female to RCA male adaptors. No difference in noise from the connectors IMHO. But the length of cables used can make a big difference, on both 1/4" and RCA type endings.

cool, thanks. yeah I have some rca to 1/4 cables, and never noticed anything difference. Just wondered if maybe the outputs on the mg-1 were noisy or something.

I just use the 1/4" phones jack on the front…

Now that will be noisy !

There were some shady techs in Los Angeles around the early 90’s who’d wire up the headphone signal to the main outs of keyboards.
They’d do this as a boutique mod and would charge hundreds ea.
They claimed it made it better and their tagline was “For that In-your-face sound”
One studio keyboardist I know (quite reknown) paid thousands to have his keyboards hacked up this way.
He quickly realized that the signal to noise was awful and that he got taken.
