In 0.9.28, it was easy to hover over a knob, see the popup value, and double-click to enter a new value.
In 0.9.33, the value appears when you hover over a knob, but double-clicking just flashes the value momentarily (left aligned, then centered), with no chance of entering a value.
OK, some times the box border will turn blue and let you enter a value, but it’s not often, and not repeatable.
(I noticed this last night, but it still acts this way today after a delete of the two prefs files and a hardware GET.)
Hi,
I try this double clicking. But when you double click on a knob it turn into blue and you can change the value.
So it is working fine.
I check this in x64 and Mac.
Wish you all the best
Regards Luloop
In 0.9.28 I could double-click on a knob and the entry box would turn blue, and I could type into the box.
In 0.9.33, when I double-click on a knob with the value box showing, the box “blinks” a little, and never turns blue.
(The box that turns blue is the pop-up box with the short line that connects it to the knob.
I vaguely recall an earlier editor that had the numeric entry box in the center of the knob,
but I haven’t seen that in awhile – and maybe I’m imagining it now.)
Sometimes within the “blink” I can just barely observe the value shifting over to the left,
like it does when we can enter a number into the box. But then it’s over, and it shifts back to the center.
So, I think it is “trying” to let me enter a number, but somehow it’s also thinking that I’ve hit return,
or clicked or done something else to cancel the numeric entry.
And this happened both before and after I deleted the preferences files.
I can’t think of any Mac OS X preferences that I’ve changed.
I think it has to do with the Editor’s window size, mike. What happens if you resize to make it bigger ? Any change ? We know about some issues when using very small window sizes.
Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it - made the window nearly as big as the screen allows, and it still won’t let me enter numbers most of the time. I don’t think it increased the chances of a “good” entry. (BTW the screen here is 1280 x 800.)
The goofy part is that I have both 0.9.28 and 0.9.33 installed. I renamed the 0.9.28 before installing the 0.9.31 and 0.9.33, and kept 0.9.28 when the Librarian names were goofed up. So, right now I can run ..28 and ..31 - even simultaneously, off-line. And 0.9.28 will work just fine, but 0.9.33 won’t.
I even rebooted this morning (stupid BlueTooth connection), and the reboot didn’t clear up anything.
I’ve got a few more things to try (blow away 0.9.28, try a virgin user account, remove the “other” preferences file, …)
It seems the popup box is loosing focus indeed. The weird thing is that it’s not for everyone.
I guess it’s behaving the same if the hardware is unplugged and for both standalone and plugin ?
Woo-Hoo!
It’s working in 0.9.37 (finally got it to test, today).
I double-click a knob, and the number box will highlight in blue, and stay that way for me to enter a number. Thanks, guys!
Close this sucker!
(now can we get tab from knob to knob, and have numeric entry on the mod waveforms and osc octaves? )
