did expression pedal really add something

Hi
i just have test my EP-2 expression pedal from moo but i really have the feeling that this device don’t bring something more to my sound
if i plug it to the volume cv i can do exactly the same effect with the volume knob on the panel
and the same for pitch (with the pitch bend wheel) and the same with the filter (by turning the cutoff frequency knob on the panel)

so why did people will pay 40-50 dollars for something they already can do with knobs at the fronty panel of the LP???
:smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:
of course this is because lp is mono synth so i play with one hand and got my second hand ready to perform some knobs movement in place of having my foot … expression pedal will be more usefull for a classic keyboard style playing …

did i miss something here? or it is really not an essential device now???
thanks

I keep an EP-2 plugged into the filter cv and “ride” it while I’m playing. It adds ALOT to the sound by allowing you to manipulate the sound subtly while you play. It also frees that knob to be used for overdrive or resonance. It also frees a hand to use the mod wheels. What else are your feet doing? Give them a pedal to play with

i like to test how it is to plug the audio out into an FX pedal like the boss or others fuzz n distorsion units …
it’s different yes that’s sure it’s not CV and can’t be used with cv inputs

did someone try the software “Silent way” by Expert Sleepers it generate all kind of CV signals but more cheap than the foogers you just have to plug a jack from your soundcard output…

…absolutely. The pedal frees up one of your hands… I usually control the filter from the pedal, works great for live performance.

I find I rarely use if for volume control.
