dfam problem solving or how to modular your brain

hi all. got a dfam and it’s wonderful. trying to think about how to do things in a modular way though, and i’m hitting a wall.

for fun i was going to try to do an 808 ish snare. getting it exact with the dfam alone is probably impossible, but i think an approximations gotta be do-able. the two elements that i figure are must-haves would be, envelope controlled noise, and a bit of sine, triangle would probably do. if you route the VCA EG to the VCA, you get a real whippy envelope, which is good. here’s the problem: the sine/triangle has to be quicker than the noise, so it’s a tail of noise only. if the sine sustains through the whole thing, it’s too note-y.

here’s where i’m lost! there’s three envelopes and i’m only using one. there’s gotta be a way to chop off that sine with a quicker envelope, but i can’t figure out how. can it be done?

Use the VCO decay knob.
