Im not one thats easily defeated by technology and i know the voyager very well indeed but today i have been doing some serious head scratching.
I had a bass line in midi in logic and sent it out to the voyager. That midi part contained varied velocity info, however no matter what ive tried i cant get the voyager to represent the velocities, ie every note is coming out at the same velocity
Can someone please tell me how to get the voyager to read the velocity info from the midi part in logic!!
Thankyou guys and gals
Im on OS 3.4 with a Voyager AE
Velocity response has to be programmed into a Voyager preset, otherwise MIDI Velocity values will have no effect.
Velocity response is programmed through Pot Mapping (weird, I know - velocity isn’t a pot!). To add velocity to a Voyager preset, go into the EDIT menu and select ‘5.4 Pot Mapping S/D’, then press ENTER. There are four Pot Maps available. Since the preset you are using may already have a few Pot Mappings programmed, choose a Pot Map that has the AMOUNT parameter set to OFF (= no function). To program the Pot Map, select ‘Veloc Att.’ as the SOURCE, and route that parameter to the desired DESTINATION (typically ‘Volume’ or ‘Filter Cutoff’). Set the DIRECTION to ‘Normal’, and set the AMOUNT accordingly for the desired effect (a little or a lot). Note that you may also need to tweak the Preset a bit in order to optimize the effect of adding velocity.
Here are a couple of ‘Velocity’ Pot Mappings that you will find useful:
Dynamic Volume Control
This will program the Voyager to respond to your touch. The harder you hit the keyboard, the louder the sound.
SOURCE: Veloc. Att
DESTINATION: Master Vol.
DIRECTION: Normal
AMOUNT: 25, 50 or 100% (as desired)
Dynamic Filter Control
This will program the Voyager filter cutoff to respond to your touch. The harder you hit the keyboard, the brighter the sound.
SOURCE: Veloc. Att.
DESTINATION: Fil Cutoff
DIRECTION: Normal
AMOUNT: 25, 50 or 100% (as desired)

I never could figure out why Moog uses the term “Pot Mapping”. It applies in some but not all cases. Powerful and usefull idea but as this post shows, confusing.
Happy to help! BTW, another very useful ‘Velocity’ destination the “Filter Env. Amt”. You might find that it works better than using the “Filter Cutoff” parameter in some cases.
