With this mod, should you not hear any of the delay when the switch is down?
Not sure what you are asking. But in one position, it acts as a unmodified delay. When you bypass, the delay stops and you just get clean signal. In the other position, when you bypass, the delay continues until it decays at whatever the feedback is set to. You can play over the tails of the delay.
