Hello Synth-Heads…

I have an idea for a project for either a skilled pro, or maybe myself with some tech help.

What I want is a MIDI controller for my Slim Phatty, that pretty much looks like the keyboard section of a MiniMoog -OR- a Moog controller 950.

What I had in mind was to buy a midi keyboard I like, take it out of the housing, identify which knobs to keep, ( I want the mod wheels, a volume knob and a cut-off knob) and re-mount into a new wood case… Simple enough, right?

Question;

  1. If I’m looking to have the same number of keys as a Mini, am I able to take a 4 or 5 octave keyboard and remove the extra keys? Or am I better off finding a keyboard with the right number of keys and leave it in tact…?

  2. Have any of you done this before? Do you have pictures?
