cool feature on the voyager

I just noticed on the voyager today, that moog has kept the
great function when controlling the voyager with CV/GATE you can
transpose the incoming CV on the voyagers keyboard just as you can on the model D :slight_smile: For me who likes CV more than MIDI this is a great feature and I hope they won’t change that! The voyager is just full of surprises :slight_smile:

What do you mean? How is this implemented?

Is this just useful for Volts/Octave analog synths, or can it be used to translate to/from Volts/Hertz synths?

this means if you are controling the voyager with cv/gate 1v/oct and you have a short sequence from a analog sequencer, you can transpose that sequence with the keyboard on the voyager.

It does not mean that it converts 1v/oct to hz/volt unfortunately, for that you will need a cv converter I think KORG has made one, the MS02 or something like that. They made a series of boxes at the same time they releasd the KORG MS20 and MS10.

Hey I know that most of us are Americians so we may be a little slow and not as progressive with our love of electronic/dance/expermental as you Swedes, but is there another way of saying what you are talking about?

You use some sort of sequencer to play/drive the Voyager. The pitch for instance. Ok?

Then some how(this is the vauge part) you modulate the CV to change key of the sequenced music right. Hmmmm… Right? Is this what you’re saying?

Ok Sven…How is this done?

You mention a MS series Korg synth. I own a X-911 korg and that is the filter section and Pitch to CV sections of the MS-20. can I do what you’re talking about?

Or how about some other example.

Ok you’ve understood what I mean with the cv/gate transposing thing that if you have short of steps on the sequencer like only 8steps you make a short sequence and you transpose that sequenceron the minimoog model D keyboard or on the voyager. The same way the little sequencer on the pro~one works. I learn this since I’ve always prefered cv/gate instead of midi and I’ve always been short of steps so it has really helped me :slight_smile:

But if you want to know how it works you really have to ask Dr Robert Moog
I think it is only (besides the modulars) the mini and the voyager that can do this with an external sequence comming into the synth.

Sorry but when it comes to the x-911 I’m not familiar with that piece of equipment but the little ms-0x box helps you to convert v/oct - hz/v or viceversa.

I don’t think you in the US are slow in the dance/techno scene, I beleive technomusic started in detroit right!! and you have built the best synthesizers and giorgio moroder (american) really knows the electronicmusic and he was really early in making electronic music :slight_smile:

Personal Example>>>>1). take the CV out from an analog sequencer [in my case;Frostwave Fatcontroller :slight_smile:] into the Control Inputs> pitch CV IN on the voyager. >>>>2).Take the gate out of the analog sequencer and put it into Env.> gate IN on the voyager. The voyager adds the CV value played on its keyboard with the value at the Control Inputs(in this case,it will be the sequencers seq.). Your sequence will ‘Xpose’ by the ‘note’ you play on voyager’s keyboard. Also…If your analog seq. has another CV channel,run that CV into Control Inputs>Filter IN (more animation,yippee!) on the voyager.
I agree with you puppets…I find CV/gate control much more fun than midi.
