Controlling Mod Wheel using pedal ?

Hi all !

What kind of pedal do I need to be able to control the Modulation Wheel action via a foot pedal ? Is that possible ?
What’s the cheapest option ?

Thanks !

Mod Wheel output is a MIDI CC command, so you would need to put a programmable MIDI controller in the loop that uses expression pedal inputs.

Lots of multi-purpose foot controllers out there that could do that for you, or you could get a dedicated MIDI processor and add just about any expression pedal:

Of course, the ultimate wouuld be a Moog MP-201, if you could find one at a decent price!!

Thanks,

so basically this can only be done by MIDI In, correct ?

I have another question though… I got a Korg MS-01 pedal DIY copy, which generates -4v to +4v
Will this fit as input to the Phatty’s CV IN ? I’m a bit confused as I think I read the Phatty CV goes 0 to +5v,
but then the Moog MP-201 pedal you mentioned outputs -5v to +5v…

Correct on the Mod Wheel -
External control requires MIDI.

The CV question might depend on which Phatty you’re talking about, but the Little & Slim Phatty can work with -5 to +5v on the pitch & filter CV, 0-5v on the volume CV, and +5 on the gate. You should be fine with the 4v pedal, but you won’t get the range of control you would have with a 5v CV source.
