Curious to see if anyone here has any experience (or knowledge of) controlling simple stage lights with CVs from a synth/drum machine.
Triggering light with gate signal, dimming along with LFO, etc.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Google hasn’t been as helpful as I’d like.
I was able to do it back in the mid 80’s. But the dimmer packs were built differently back then. (4 channel Blue Meanies) I do not know if you could easily do it to todays lighting controllers. [all digital, and stuff] I’ve never touched DMX, it didn’t exist then. But can’t you sync the DMX to to your beatbox with some module? You need dimmer packs that use analog control signals and then condition your outputs to meet it’s needs. The Blue Meanies were too easy as the controller sliders output a 0-10VDC signal to the input of the dimmer pak!
I did a little snooping around on the internet. There are DMX controllers out there that have MIDI. My advice is use a simple CV to MIDI box and then get a DMX controller.
