My friend and I want to connect our two Voyagers (one is Electric Blue and the other one is RME model) in order to get legendary Voyager polyphony (well, only two voices, but what the hell )
We want to know is it possible to control all of the functions of the “slave” Voyager with “master” Voyager (in this case Electric Blue will be master keyboard, for obvious reasons ): changing presets, modulating sound etc.?
2) by pressing two keys on Electric Blue model how can we set which synth plays which note?
I think what you have to do is you go into the software and take your electric blue and it shoudl be set on something like Midi Voice 1. THen on the other VOyager you set it on Midi Voice 2.
Whichever one you want to be the master voyager you should have it set to 1.
Ive never done this so someone can give you a precise description.
Basically you are assigning a particular note priority to each Voyager, up to 16.
Man noone has made any demos of the Voyager duophony so if you can, please do so!
I’ve found the answer for the second question in Voyager manual (heh, what a suprise )
**3.3 MIDI RUNNING STATUS
The MIDI Key Order function allows multiple Voyagers to function together as a polyphonic synth. 16 Voyagers can be linked together to create a 16 voice synth. The value of the MIDI Key Order Number assigns the Voyager to one of 16 voices on the MIDI input. To use this function, select “Midi Key Order” and press ENTER. The screen will prompt: “MIDI In key Order is not active" Use the +/- Buttons to selsct if this is not active, or 1-16, then confirm by pressing ENTER.**
In this case, we will set Electric Blue to 1, and RME to 2. We still want to know is it possible to switch presets and modulate the same sound with master Voyager only?
MIDIing two or more Voyager’s together is a blast. Besides having polyphony you have a lot of other cool options, it’s been awhile since I’ve done it with mine but ou can have two totally different sounds on each to crate one new “massive” patch or the same patch on each but one has the osc’s set for different octaves. Place one Voyager in low note priority and the other in high note. Set each for a different patch say a filter sweep drone on the low note priority on and a nice lead on the high note. Use the low note for the controller hold down any low key and solo on the keys above it. Of course when you release the key the high note will jump down to the lower note but hey Have fun. I only did it once for the fun of it but I used the MIDI note order setting and MIDI’d two Voyagers and a Little Phatty together sounded pretty cool, didn’t record anything though. Once things slow down a bit I might try it again. Maybe get a buddy by with his Voyager and have three Voyager’s and an LP together, through the MiniMoog in there and it will almost be like having the MemoryMoog up and running again only with one dead osc… .
