Connecting a Voyager XL and Korg Kronos II together

Just received a Moog Voyager XL and a Korg Kronos II and was hoping someone might be able to shed light on how the two can be connected together. Read somewhere that MIDI and TRS cables are involved. Are there any white papers around that have definitive steps and best practices on connecting the two together?

Thanks in advance for any and all FEEDBACK!!!

One possible way is to use the Kronos as the master and the Voyager as the slave. Connect MIDI out from the Kronos to The Voyager MIDI in. Then use TRS cables to connect the Voyager audio outputs to the Kronos audio inputs. Now you can play the Voyager from both the Kronos keyboard and the Voyager keyboard and the audio will be routed to the Kronos.

But you still have a bit of setup on the Kronos before you will hear the Voyager. Check out the Analog audio input connection section on page 22 of the Kronos Operations Guide. Also check out the Audio Input/Sampling section on page 14 of the Kronos Parameter Guide.

The Audio Input/Sampling screen on the Kronos is where you specify the routing for the Voyager input. For basic routing use the Bus Select(IFX/Indiv) row and change the settings for the Input 1 and Input 2 columns to L/R. This should send the dry Voyager audio to the main outs. When you confirm that is working you can change the routing to an Insert Effect and use the Kronos as an FX processor.

Outstanding, thanks for you input. Is there a standard MIDI cable length I should be considering? Any suggestions on what brand and where to get them would also be appreciated!!!

MIDI cable length is not an issue like it can be with audio. I have many MIDI cable runs, some as long as 30 feet, without any problems. Just get what ever length you need. I use Hosa cables and have never had a problem. I get all my gear from Sweetwater but any musical store should have decent MIDI cables.

Niceeeeeeeee, thanks for the advise. Last couple of questions: Is the Expression 3 pedal a good accessory? Can it be used for something more then Volume? Thanks!!!

I’m not familiar with the Moog EP-3 pedal. Its CV so I don’t believe it will work in Kronos. Look at pedals for the Kronos, then you can use it for a variety of functions.
