Communication issue: Akai MPK49 -> Computer -> Slim Phatty

Yes,

i just bought my first Moog, a Slim Phatty.
I also bought an Akai MPK49 controller. I want to use the MPK to control my Moog, but to power my MPK, i connect it to my Mac, and i connect my Moog to my mac as well.

i see that there is midi information from both my MPK and my Moog on my computer, i just want to know how to make them communicate!
i also tried to connect the MPK to the Moog via a Midi Cable. Nothing works, my Moog doesn’t get the midi info from the controller.

Help?

Two choices;

  1. Configure your MPK to use the DIN output and your Slim to USE the DIN input (options under Midi menus, and merge, etc.)
  2. Get your hands on Midi PatchBay (free) here: http://notahat.com/midi_patchbay

You can also use DAW software to route between but #2 above is the most simple solution. Actually, #1 is most simple since it doesn’t need a computer between but the Mapper software is quite good, you can do splits, filter certain types of Midi commands, transpose, etc.
