Club of the Knobs psu

No info anywhere, no reply from COTK…

I know my COTK 921is designed for a +/-12 v supply …
Can it be safely run on +/- 15 v ?

I asked him awhile back if his filter bank could run off a ddotcom power supply and he replied:

I also asked him if about his 960 several years ago and he mentioned it would ship with a dotcom connector.

So you probably need that converter, if you are handy with an iron you can build one much cheaper than that. I don’t know if it can be “safely” run without the conversion, or if it would shorten the life of the components.

Hi - Most COTK modules need a converter board to work with a Dotcom or MOTM power supply (+/-15V).

Hope this helps.

Thanks Eric…

I have one module each from .Com / COTK in my modular so now I have to have three PSU units in there …

    1. -6. -10. Moog
  • 15 -15. .Com
    1. -12. COTK
      and also + 5

So I was hoping to cut out the + - 12v

Actually their all becoming external seeing how the modular never goes anywhere.

A majority of the COTK Modules can run off of ±15v (I’ve run their LFO and a sequential switch off of ±15v even though they were setup for ±12v) but the VCO’s are NOT able to do that. (I don’t know it it would damage it or not to try but the main problem is they wont track correctly) At least that was the case a few years ago. For VCO’s you’d need a step-down converter for the power and a connector converter. Maybe that’s what the $48 was for, to ship one of their power converter strips?

FYI: Kazike of COTK is probably already on his way to the Winter NAMM convention in Anaheim CA USA so he may be hard to get a hold of for the next week or two.

Thanks for all your help

I guess best stick to the 12 v supply rather than risk it with a costly module.

I need to organise my PSU collection.
