Buck Munger “- I had the first six Polymoogs off the production line with orders to distribute them to deserving world-class players. Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea took the first two for helping with the NAMM movie. I flew to Los Angeles to deliver one and meet Ray Charles in his studio. As a young Marine, I played in the Mark V band with guitarist (L/Cpl) Ted Ledford, who appeared with Jerry Lee Lewis and had great stories of party jams at Jerry Lee’s with Lee and Ray Charles at the piano. It took Ray about three minutes to figure out the Polymoog, and yes, he did play the “What’d I Say” intro notes. I shipped a Poly to Stevie Wonder in Los Angeles and gave one to Johnny Mathis, embarking on a world tour. The last unit I kept for a Portland loaner. My local Poly-guru was Tim Gorman at Springriver Recording who tutored the visiting popstars and eventually went on the road with the Who as one of their few sidemen.”
