In the Preset Browser panel, the Category listing is truncated - only a few category names are shown.
The PresetCategories.xml file appears OK - it lists lots of categories and it’s 729 bytes long.
I closed the editor, renamed the PresetCategories.xml file to get it out of the way, and started up the editor again. It created a new file, same as the old file, but the category menu is still short.
This happens no matter which Librarian folder I’ve most recently used (if that matters).
So, I must have done something wrong…
I also had a short list of categories in the editor [MAC Standalone 0.9.37 @ OSX10.11.3 firmware 1.1.16].
The list was 19 in total and the category on the Sub’s display never matched the category displayed in the editor.
Deleting the prefs in ~/Library/Application Support/Moog Music Inc./Sub 37 fixed the problem.
The category display in the editor only seems to sync correctly with loaded presets from the synth, after you change the category once in the editor.
Also:
Changing the Category in the editor and press SAVE, results in display of an unchanged category.
So, changing the category of a preset, in the editor, doesn’t seem to work at the moment.
Sander, did you ever had any previous version of the Editor installed on the same system ?
or it’s the first time you have ever installed it, and the first time you loaded the Editor you got the wrong list of categories (which is fixed if you delete preferences) ?
i’ve had a few earlier versions installed and used them, 9.36, and maybe 4 others.
There were two folders with preferences:
~/Library/Application Support/Moog Music Inc./Sub 37
and
~/Library/Application Support/Moog Music Inc./Sub37
I deleted them both and reinstalled 0.9.37
That made the list of categories longer, but not complete.
Categories: KEYS, VOX and USER are not in the list in the editor.
But, these entries are present in the “PresetCategories.xml”
performed all above steps candid get
full categories menu on editor and sub 37 but they are different
editor menu (all to bells) contains 19 items
sub 37 (duo, pads, bass, classic, sequence, evolving, strings, distorted, organs, sound fx, noise, lead, percussion, woodwind, arp, brass) has only 15
assignment differs e.g. bank 3 preset 2 ( Lyrical theremin)
is res lead on editor
but lead on sub 37
Category drop-down list in the top bar only show a few categories
Changing the Category of a preset doesn’t show the correct result.
#1 is normal; the Category list on the drop-down menu in the top bar is only a filter for the preset browser – if a category is selected there then the preset browser will only show presets with a matching category. For this reason, the list only shows relevant categories, meaning at least one preset in the folder you’re browsing has to be assigned to a given category for that category to appear on the list. Put another way, if no presets are assigned to a given category then that category will not appear on the drop-down list. This category list isn’t used to change the category of presets, only to set a filter for browsing.
#2 does not seem normal and I’ll check into it this morning.
From the synth panel I changed the category off 3 sounds to the missing categories from my list, now all categories are present in the list from the editor.
Thanks Amos for the explanation.
But a question arises…
How can one change and save the category of a preset with the editor, if the category display is only meant as filter?
On the Librarian page, the middle column shows presets with their assigned category.
Right click (or shift-click? or option-click? or two-finger tap!) on the category of a preset, and the popup menu will let you change the category.
