This is a complete newbie question but here goes.
As well as using this beautiful keyboard for its own amazing sounds, could I also use the Voyager as a controller keyboard for my soft synths or my MPC4000 (i.e turn off the Voyager’s internal sounds - local off - and use it to trigger other sound sources - soft synths, samples in mpc4000).
Any help would be much appreciated.

Yes, this is possible.
And while playing a sof or hardware synth from the Voyagers keyboard, you could stil play the Voyager external by a sequencer.
In case you use a software with MIDI tru function, be sure to tern the merging of ingoing (tho the Voyager) MIDI with the Voyager’s outgoing data to OFF in the Master Functions 1.3 menu item.
The only known problem is the scalling of the velocity and after touch of the outgoing MIDI data stream the Voyager generates. It’s a known hardware bug, that the after touch is rather close to min or max. But impossible to use in the midrange. But it does work for rather on-off style articulations.

Right !
Just make sure the MIDI merging of the Voyager is turned off.
You can even transpose the ingoing and outgoing MIDI note numbers from within the Master menue of the Voyager.
I haven’t heard a word from Moog Music about the aftertouch or Velocity scalling yet. And I think there aren’t many Voyager users using the Voyager as a little master keyboard in their setup.
As a matter of interest here, is it possible to play chords on a soft synth, or indeed, any other polyphonic machine, using Voyager as a controller?
Yes.
One thing that’s really cool to do is to send the MIDI out of the Voyager to another synth - a bright, digital, non-analog sounding synth. (I use a TG33.) Then route the audio out of the other synth to the Voyager’s external input. Turn the External Input on and up in the mixer, and there you go!
You can put the other synth in mono mode, to mimic the V-ger. Or you can put it in poly mode and put the V-ger in Low Note Priority, so the other synth plays chords and the Voyager holds down the bass.
