Can Moog make a reversable attenuator?

I just happened to think that perhaps the modern Moog expression pedals might just work on the vintage Moogs if we had a Reversable Attenuator to boost the signal enough. (I think thats what they do hehe)

For example, using the EP-1 with my OSC or FILTER input on the Micro does relatively little to control anything. If i could boost the signal then I could get a full filter sweep or maybe get the OSC to shift beyond a quartertone.

Just thought that id throw that in the mix.

Maybe I don’t fully understand your post, but isn’t a normal attenuator enough?

Moog used to make their modulars with some, but I don’t think that’s what you need.
Not sure what you need to be honest.

But anyways, a reversible attenuator doesn’t boost, it attenuates.
Center (12 oclock) is off.
To the right, it’s like any normal control- the farther you go, the more signal.
To the left, it outputs inverted voltages- again the farther you, the more the signal goes negative.

They’re good at making inverted envelopes and many other applications, but generally do not boost a signal at all.

You are saying you want to boost the voltage from the EP-1 pedal?

I think the problem is that a Micro needs DC Control Voltage source on a 1/4" jack, and an EP-1 pedal doesn’t provide a voltage source. Expression pedals like the EP-1 and Roland pedals have a TRS jack because they are designed to get the control voltage source output from the synthesizer they are controlling.

You need the older style Moog or Korg CV pedal, or you could make your own by modifying a volume pedal with a 9v battery and a few other parts…

Hmmmmmmm.

Whoops!

I guess you told me Kevin lolol.

Well id surely like to find an old foot pedal controller like the one on the polymoog but I certinaly have many checks that i haven’t yet claimed already spent on stuff lolololol.

As far as modifying a pedal…well 9i have enough trouble trying to modify my hairdo from day to day lol.

While you can certainly build something to suit your needs, an expression pedal and a CP-251 will provide all the control you need for the Micro:
