I’m runnning a Mac OSX 10.5…have been having my LP for three months now and I cannot get it to work MIDI in LOGIC…I’m using a Midi sport 2x2 and an Apogee Duet Firwire interface…everytime I open an external midi track…you can see that it’s recieving the signal…but I cannot hear any sound from the LP…I’ve tried it in ABleton Live 7 and Reason 4…and still same thing for each program…you can see the volume go up when I hit the keys…but no sound or playback…Can someone please help me???..It’s killing me to have this machine sitting right here everytime I do a track and i can’t use it…
I’m a bit confused…are you trying to send audio via MIDI? If so, you can’t do that.

I’ve given all the help I possibly can via PM. Can someone familiar with Logic 8 or MIDI in general chime in? I have a feeling the volume is turned down, or something simple like that, as rocksmith1983 seems to be doing everything correctly. ![]()
make sure you have the audio out from the phatty going to an audio in on your firewire interface…midi is only a control message containing note information eg note, velocity, duration etc. i suspect this may be your problem as you have no audio in any application…make sure you have the application is setup correctly to use the audio channel you have the phatty plugged in to and make sure the Output ON/OFF button at far right of phatty is on (lighted).

Aye, I think I just did something like what you’re trying to do yesterday. Here’s what I did:
- Set up the Phatty in Audio Midi Setup (create new device, hook it to whatever interface it’s attached to)
- Create an external midi track in Logic, point it to that device you just created(I had to choose Channel 2)
- At this point if you have a midi keyboard you should be able to select the track in Logic and the Phatty should make noise, but to test this plug your headphones directly into the Phatty. If the Phatty isn’t making noise, then MIDI isn’t getting from whatever device your sourcing MIDI data from to the Phatty.
- This doesn’t do us much good, though, we want the audio in Logic, I’m guessing. I’m not sure if this is the best way, but I just created an audio track to monitor the sound coming out of the Phatty into my audio interface, like if I was playing it manually. Again, just play on the Phatty to make sure audio is getting from the Phatty into Logic.
Setting it up like this lets me do really simple things, but I haven’t really tried anything beyond the most basic of things. I haven’t experimented a lot with recording actual performances as midi data and then using the Phatty to play back that performance; I usually use this method to play a simple midi melody while I twiddle knobs and record the result as audio.
I tried to watch these video yesterday, but the first was missing - it’s back now, so I’ll watch them - perhaps they hold all the answers.

SFLogicNinja didn’t seem to have much else to offer besides how to do fancy things with banks and programs and other words I’m not entirely sure of the meaning of in this context. I don’t think they apply much to this situation since the Phatty is monotonic/monotimbrel.
