Where can I get Cinch-Jones and 3/16" (stereo) cables/adaptors for use with my Micromoog? I have never seen these cables before so I am not quite sure where to find them. The Cinch-Jones is used for the “S-Trig” and the 3/16" is used for the modulation input/output.
You’re not going to find 3/16" plugs - just replace those Micromoog jacks with 1/4" equivalents. Cinch-Jones are easier plugs are easier to find, but you’ll have to make you own cables.
Ditto on the 3/16" jack. Replace it. It’s such an incredibly usefull in/out and I don’t know why it has that wierd jack. But, in case you don’t have the manual, it has 3 functions: Modulation on/off, Modulation input, Modulation output. The Micro is maybe the only synth I’ve ever seen where you can send modulation to and from it’s Mod Router. It’s so cool.
Come to think of it, this might be why it has that wierd jack. I don’t know of any other synth jacks that have 3 functions. It might be difficult to find a 1/4" jack with the same functionality. But still, I’ve never seen the 3/16ths"…
Maybe try to plug a stereo 8th" into it.
Maybe Kevin Lightner or someone of his stature can help you to figure this out. I used to have a MicroMoog, but it was 15 years ago, before the analog renasainse, and I never even realized what all those jacks were for until it was too late (it broke down and I sold it-- I regret very much now).
The Cinch Jones connector can be bought at any radio shack, and it’s a simple connection to a 1/4 inch cable. One tip is hot, and the other ground. However, you will need additional circuitry to convert a gate signal to s-trig for triggering your Micro from a non-moog synth gate output. But, you can buy a cable with the circuitry built in from Synthesizers.com or Kenton for around $20. They also have a link to the actual circuit, which is very small and would be easy to build.
Going the other direction (s-trig converted to v-trig/gate for sending triggers to other non-Moog synths input) is more complicated and requires a battery or power source.
I think you could just connect the ring and the tip to a cable with a standard stereo 1/4" on the other end. They are very expensive as far as connectors go, but at least you could start using the modulation router to send and recieve signals.
i just went to ebay to get one.
there is usualy a few, i got the one with the automatic gate-type selector so i can use it with my MPU-101 without booting it into s-trig mode.
