building CV controllers

hey guys, i’ve been thinking about making some CV controllers but i don’t really know much about what that sort of thing, just looking for some direction

what i want to do is to build a big box that has:

  • 4 big dials or levers that output a CV signal (just like an expression pedal but table-top and x4 )
  • 2 big buttons that output gate signals (one v-trig, one s-trig)
and maybe a ribbon controller as well

it would have 7 outs (one for each lever, one for each button and one for the ribbon) that you could plug into moogerfoogers, synths, or whatever

the idea is to have some really nice big controls that you can use to perform with, and when i get my LP (and after i build this thing) one of the controls will definitly be plugged into the filter in (then i could leave the filter section knob on resonance).

it would just be great to have a box that you can use to control you favourite mooger parameters with and that sort of thing as well

come on guys help me design it and we can all build one, and post pictures of them!

Best bet, buy a CP-251 (See mine hooked up on my website at www.ultraworld-studio.com). If you really want to do it yourself, you can construct a simple set of DC amplifier circuits from transistors, or even easier, OP-Amps. A potentiameter (linear taper) would control the output control voltage for each circuit. You will need to find out what the impedance of the control volatage inputs are, so you don’t load anything down. That should be in your specs, or Moog Music can probably provide. There are many variable DC source circuits available on the web.

I hope that helps.
