Broken Patch Selection Knob?

After years of use (abuse?), things are starting to go wrong with my Little Phatty and I’m starting to feel like it might be time to bail on it and upgrade to a Voyager.

The biggest issues are that the Little Phatty does not respond to knob changes and freezes up the controls if I turn them to quick (need to cycle power to reset this). Otherwise the notes always play well…this is very odd to me. Maybe an OS update would fix this???

But my biggest issue is that I recently knocked the patch selection knob out of its socket. It dangles in the slot and I can still sort of turn it to switch patches but it barely works. at least its still connected somehow? Also, I can’t click it in to engage arpeggio mode, this really bugs me. Can anyone suggest how I may fix this myself? Maybe the existing knob can be reseated? Just hoping someone else out there may have done this fix at some point and can offere guidance. I’m relucant to ship to Moog and pay for repairs as this may not be economical for me as compared to selling the Little Phatty as is and using the money towards a Voyager. Thanks!

One of the guys (forget who) had theirs replaced and improved by Moog as a repair. You might want to search to see if it was economical or not.

I had mine open because I was curious as to how they implemented the CV Out mod; and I cataloged it here with a few pictures. If memory serves me right, the encoder is soldered to the main board but I could be wrong. I may have some pictures at home besides those that I posted here. Not sure I would entertain the repair myself.

I undergo the same encoder click problem. I think the man one names Sir Nose may bring some relevant information.

yep. Had my push encoder replaced and reinforced at the factory. I had a bunch of other stuff done while it was there: CV out mod, pots replaced (moog couldn’t/wouldn’t just tighten them up, but cheap to replace once the LP is opened up).

Fairly quick turn around. Very helpful and friendly by phone.

Many thanks for the freebie! A lot of fun can be had with this one.
