Blind musicians

There’s a thread on the Arturia site at the moment with a blind musician asking about ways to control the Arturia MiniMoog. It’s at

I’ve tried to help as best I can, but my knowledge of what’s available is limited, and it’s quite likely that someone here will have knowledge and experience I don’t have.

Although it isn’t strictly speaking a Moog issue I thought under the circumstances it was worth posting a link to it here. But in any case if we have any blind musicians on this board it may be helpful to have comments on using Moog synths. Those comments may be helpful for other blind musicians and also helpful to Moog when designing instruments.

I’d expect Stevie Wonder has used Moog instruments, but the only blind Moog player I know of is Jean-Philippe Rykiel, who’s used a Mini. As I mentioned in the Arturia site’s discussion, he’s now using the Creamware MiniMoog.

Thinking in wider terms, if we have any suggestions for Moog to make the visual interface on the Voyager more useable by blind musicians, that would be well worth passing on to them. Other than that, I’d expect current Moog products are probably well suited to blind musicians, but there may be other stuff I haven’t thought of.
