Big muff pi with tone wicker

It works awesome for overdriving the voyager. Bypass the the tone on the muff, and the voyager just sizzles. Using the tip-ring send return plug. Does anyone else here use anything similar to overdrive their machine? I also got excellent results running the right out into the external in.

So true - I ran it through our bassist´s Bass Big Muff. That was hilarious. So I decided to get me a Big Muff PI as well… Good to hear you get great results with it. I haven´t bought one, yet, but I´ll do so very soon.

Overdriving the Voyager is a favorite perennial topic, and there seems to be no end of possibilities to accomplish the effect.

For newcomers wishing to quickly get up to speed on this technique, check out my article on the subject, called ‘Kicking It Up A Notch’. Find it here:

KnobTweak > Files > Voyager > Kicking it up.zip

The zip file includes several audio examples of the overdrive effect.

Cheers!

Excellent article! I actually used it to create this setup. Thanks, GegAE!

I actually preferred the Bass Muff over the regular, as I tend to play deeper notes on the Voyager. Either way overdriving brings subtle sounds into the forefront that are often lost. Fun stuff indeed, for a cheap pedal the Muff has truly stood the test of time.

The EBS Valve Drive is also a great thing. Beside the “vintage mode”, which gives you fuzz, it can make a mellow tube overdrive.
