“To the fairest!”
Kidding aside, I’m looking to get my Memorymoog (with + retrofit) overhauled & calibrated. I’m located in Albuquerque. With much respect to Rudi, Germany ain’t an option, not for the cost of 2-3 used RMEs…I do wish our buds at the current Moog had someone who could & would fix it. If the story is true, mine (previously owned by list member Chris Boylan) was the very last one to be serviced by Kevin Lightner (5-6 years ago, maybe?), who I understand no longer fixes these things. The display flickers, I’d love to get a quieter fan installed and on a good day I get 4/6 voices tuning up…3 voices, on average. I’ve just been deactivating the bum voices and using it for what it CAN do, which is still pretty damn huge. I know it’s a tough job, that’s why I’m looking for that rare mutant who can & will do it:) It would be great to get a new wood kit, too. That’s my deal, I’d be grateful for any thoughts, suggestions or recommendations anyone here might have. With much additional respect to those who either want a new polyphonic Moog or think that polys aren’t what a Moog synth should be, those are well-covered topics and not really relevant to the question at hand;) Please PM me if you’ve got insight you’d rather not post publicly…grateful for your thoughts and assistance, cheers!
Greg Montalbano is a Prophet-5 repair specialist, the Memorymoog wouldn’t be much of a stretch beyond the P5. Contact him
From Greg’s page: “For synthesizers I don’t work on (Moog, Roland, etc) check out Chris Hewitt at This Old Synth – http://thisoldsynth.com/”
Didn’t see that… his home page sez “for other synths contact me”, that’s where I got that from.
From my own interactions with Chris Hewitt, he seems a capable tech.
A Memorymoog is quite a challenge tho, so whomever you choose, make sure they have experience and confidence.
