Beginner question about recording

Hi, I am new to this forum and have a few basic questions about the recording options available from the Voyager. As I understand it the choices are:

  1. use external mic, record to software sequencer (Cubase, Live, etc) or hardware recorder (fourtack or .wav) - this is what I assume is the most common approach?

  2. use line out of amp (or voyager audio outs?) to software sequencer or hardware recorder. Not sure if this would work or even if its better than option 1.

  3. Use MIDI to record to software sequencer. If you do this, you are just getting the MIDI note info but not the voyager sound right? What virtual instrument do people use in this case? It would be cool if there was a virtual voyager plug-in that would play the actual patches but as far as I know this doesn’t exist, right?

I appreciate any feedback as to what other voyager owners are doing. By the way I currently use Reason but plan on getting ableton Live very soon.

Plug the audio outputs of the Voyager into your soundcard inputs, arm a track and hit record.

You can also record MIDI at the same time so you can edit tracks later and then do other takes.

Unless you have a decent room, decent mics, decent mic preamps, and a good amp system you’ll get much better results recording the Voyager direct.
