(Bass) MuRF: Three orange lights... :(

For some reason my “new” (less than one month old) Bass MuRF #189 is not working. Most of the time the “Rate”, “Drive” and “Bypass” lights are coloured orange, and some times it switches itself on. And then it goes off again, with a nice crackle. When in “orange mode”, the signal appears quite distorted.

Anyways, I’m guessing the three orange lights are diagnostic for some condition; you’d think if there was a problem the thing would just switch off.

I haven’t heard of this happening before, anyone?

It’s still under warranty, so will go back to the shop in a few hours. Sadly, they will have to ship it to Moog, so no MuRF for a while… :frowning:

Are you sure you’re using the right power supply? I accidentally used a 12-volt adapter with my MF-101 once and it wouldn’t work properly…

Well, I’m using the supply I was given, I suppose I better check to see if it is regulated!

did you buy it new? and does the power supply have a moog logo/sticker on it? it probably should.

I have the regular MuRF. I don’t have a Moog sticker on my power supply. The specs are 9 volts at 300mA. The + is the inside pin. I believe the manual states that it needs 300mA, and anything less will give you problems.

The power pack was not Moog. It was the correct polarity, but may not have had enough current. I emailed Amos; he said the orange lights meant the CPU was having serious trouble. The thing was brand new, so at least it’s still under warranty.

happened to me as well
but it was only a power supply
i was given a negative and went and bought positive for 10 bucks
case closed for me
wooohoo.
