I have read the manuals and a number of posts on this subject but I am still seeking some clarity. My studio configuration is setup with balanced 1/4" connections, and I am interested in using software products to send CV signals via ProTools and Ableton Live to my Sub Phatty and Minitaur via my Motu 828MkIII.
The following article mentions the need for either a TRS to TS cable, or a TRS Y-cable to TS…specifically to avoid damage to the audio interface.

Since the Sub Phatty and Minitaur only have CV INPUTS, and all I am doing (more or less) is outputting a sine wave for voltage control from my DAW, is there still a problem with using unbalanced jacks for any of the following:
Audio Out - Unbalanced
Audio In - Unbalanced
Pitch/Vol/Filter CV - Unbalanced?
Gate - Unbalanced?
I am seeking a detailed answer with an explanation to better my understanding. Much appreciated.
