I would imagine each location and individual A/C power setup has an impact too. For what it’s worth, in my recording studio ~ the Voyagers sound very clean either way using one or two (mono or stereo outs) balanced or unbalanced (going into RME FireFace) ~ however a balanced cable make a VERY big difference with the Slim Phatty ~ another piece of the puzzle, I added a Furmann power bar ‘conditioner’ recently which has also made some difference as well. Especially with the noisier foogers ~ the deNoiser plug-in can be another big help.
