…a small excerpt from Bach’s keyboard Partita in Bb… 'tis a sarabande, a stately dance that lent itself to much improvisation… bach probably embroidered this melody each time differently… it’s played in real time, no click, to preserve the freedom of the rhythms… you’ll hear two tracks of LP on the lead, one on the bass, and one doing the one-shot arpeggios from the LP as well… the harpsichord filling in the chords is from Garritan…
…this excerpt is just an exploratory one till i find the voice I really want for this music… not yet, but getting there. Here’s the link: http://stashbox.org/257167/bachsarabande.mp3 … best, jgirv
Very good! It sounds like you’re going for that Switched on Bach sound, and you’ve almost got it…if that’s what you’re going for. ![]()
…pretty much… there are a lot of subtle things that occur in that landmark recording that I’m just hinting at here… the reason for doing these little excerpts is to do arrive at a satisfying working method for recording multi-track, non-quantized, live performances using mostly the LP… investigating carlos’s production process is rather enlightening, to say the least… thanks for listening, and I’ll post something quite different next time… jgirv
