I never use Pro Tools to produce music my music so I didn’t try it, but I saw this thread and decided to do a quick test. I updated my firmware to 1.1.20.
Hopefully I set this up correct. I open a previous project I had and made sure my Sub 37 was selected in midi. I created a mono instrument track and insert the editor plugin on the instrument track. Set my input to my moog audio input, armed record and pressed keys to make sure I was getting a signal. No sound and then all of a sudden the sound started and wouldn’t stop. It was a constant note playing. I can press keys and then more notes will play, but I couldn’t get the constant note to stop. I tried to change presets from the editor and it still wouldn’t stop. So then I looked at my Sub 37 and noticed it was on an init preset. Tried to change presets from the Sub 37 and every patch was init. I did a get from the editor and when it finished every patch was init and the sound never stopped. So i turned off the Sub 37 and PT and restored all my presets from the download from the moog website.
Round 2…once I got the presets back and it was working fine I went back to PT and this time around it was working fine. I could change presets from editor and Sub 37. Since it was working I decided to record midi. The midi recorded, but no audio will play when I tried to play it back. This is why I said I hope I setup correctly. So i tried to do just a midi track and not an instrument track. Same reults no audio would play. So I recorded the audio on an aufio track and that worked. Still not sure why the audio wouldn’t play back with the instrument track, but I had midi information there. I loaded a vst to an instrument track and recorded midi using the Sub 37 as the controller and it played back just fine.
If there is any other test you want me to try just let me know. I’m new to hardware synths (Sub 37 is my first) and recording midi in Pro Tools, but I’ll keep testing it if I can.
Any help with getting the audio to play back?
Hi, I think I’ve figured out what this is.
When you launch the Sub 37 AAX plug-in in Pro Tools, it loads an empty preset which sets every parameter value to zero, including main output.
If you then load up a real preset in the editor, it sets everything except the master volume to its correct value; volume is still at zero.
If Local Control is on, wiggling the Volume knob on the Sub 37 will turn its volume back up (otherwise make sure you are record-monitoring the Sub 37 MIDI channel so its front-panel MIDI is being echoed back to the Sub 37; then wiggle the volume knob).
Now that we know about the plug-in setting the volume to zero on launch, we can fix it.
update soon.
