I am having a hard time distinguishing the difference between the Ash and Maple finishes for the Voyager Select. Anyone have a preference or have better pics you can post? I want to get one but can’t decide which will look best. I am also considering walnut and that’s clearly a darker wood. I want to get the Electric Blue panel. Thanks!
Ash is a warm golden wood color, same as the Moogerfooger side panels.
Maple is a pale, cooler light color.
Personally I think the maple would look better with cool blue lights, but that’s just my preference. The ash is sort of “Classic Moog” looking; has more of a vintage vibe.
Apart from the colour, maple has a much closer grain texture than ash. It’s therefore possible to get a smoother finish to it than ash. Also maple is rock hard, especially compared with walnut, although that won’t make much difference to you unless you’re planning to chisel into it sometime!
