I’ve been listening to several demos of people getting amazing arpeggiator-like motion with their voyagers. What would one use to create something like that. A few good examples of what I mean are from the Voyager OS sample sounds (thinks its called “Envelope”) on the Moog Website, but I’ve seen others as well. Maybe its sequencing, but its sounds like a designated note arpeggiator?? Not like the standard up, down. My Pro 08 has a sequencer built in that can achieve similar styles, but it works directional (left to right, right to left - or high-low). Is there such a thing for Moogs, can one buy an external sequencer that would effect the Voyager?
Whatever it is - blows my mind and I want to achieve and design my own Animation/Motion with sounds.
There are some step sequencers similar to Prophet 08. The best according to my humble opinion, are:
Numerology from Five12 is a nice software step sequencer. It can be paired with your DAW via ReWire.
Doepher 16/3 is classic and the one and only, but pricey, step sequencer.
MFB-Step64 is a much more cost effective hardware step sequencer, but just with some few knobs. But still a nice hardware step sequencer. I’ve seen some videos on youtube with a Minimoog hooked up with a MFB-Step64
If you run Logic: There was an old environment for Logic in the Logig User Grouop that emulated the 16/3.
Sonar and Ableton 8 has it native
I wish Moog’s next product was an analog step sequencer
BTW, I’m just about to buy a Prophet 08 (next week or so). Just give it some more days so that I make the right decision.
