Hey everyone,
I just wanted to see what you guys think about this. A guy wants to trade me my ARP Oyddssey for his Moog Tarus 1 pedals. Should I do it??
Hey everyone,

If you want to sell the T1 and make a profit - yes
If you want to get big bass sounds - yes
If you want to MIDIfy them - no
If you want strings, pads, leads, FX - no
Seems like a pretty even trade, depends on either instruments condition of course. What model Odyssey, btw ?
It is a model 2820. Mk3. I have been trying to find someone to trade it for a Voyager or a bunch of moogerfooger pedals. But this original Taurus could be really cool.
The only thing that I would consider (besides the condition of the units) is whether or not you play other instruments or have any other synths.
In my experience (and a rather limited experience due to extreme time constraints) the TIII’s are very limited. Going from an Odyssey (which I have no experience with) to a Taurus is definately going to limit your sonic options. Though the Taurus is probably unrivaled in the bass aspect, if synths are your main instrument and you have only 1 or don’t play any other instruments, they may very well be a novelty. Im not trying to diss the Taurus, but it’s palette of sounds is clearly limited. I have many types of instruments to compliment them, if that explains why i have a set.
However if you have other instruments, a Hz/V converter and do recordings/sequences or live stuff, THe Taurus may prove quite a deadly aspect of your arsenal.
Kill them with bass…
But I don’t think that people would have offered an even trade for an Oddy, a few years ago. Now that the T3 is out, the T1 prices have normalized a bit. It may be a risky venture to make an even trade. Maybe if it came with a flight case, heh.
Let us know what you ended up doing, maybe you can get a pic of them together…like ships passing in the night.
My guess is to be skeptical…you might regret it. If you were looking to get rid of your Oddy to replace it with a Voyager, then ask yourself if the Taurus will satisfy your needs. If not Im sure you can get a used RME and used Stage II Phatty instead (or come darn close) and those will surely satisfy your cravings.

EricK,
Thanks for the post. I have a Little Phatty Tribute edition and a Nord Electro that I mainly use. The ARP, although it be a very awesome and versitle instrument, is not getting used in a practical manner.
