Argh, strange garbled patch problems with my Voyager RME :(

Hi there, im hoping someone can help me with a problem i am having with my 6 month old moog voyager :frowning:

Things are behaving strangely, when i turned it on the LCD display was all black, all the patch names have jumbled characters and midi wasnt working.

i fixed the LCD by adjusting the contrast on the display, though no idea why this was so low..it is now working properly.

i fixed the midi in/out by changing the midi channels back to 1, again no idea why these were changed but they are working properly now (even after turning the moog on and off multiple times)

but my 3rd problem still persists and is making it unusable, its like all the patches have been corrupted or something…scrolling through the patches reveals patch names like '!$#$* j{F }{{) "

if i save the patch under a new name ie, i call it “danspatch1”, the name changes on the LCD and looks correct, then if i save the patch it still looks correct. But when i preview the next patch and return to the one i just saved, it is back to the same jumbled up characters.

I cant seem to transmit or recieve patches using the patch managment software i purchased either, I was previously able to do this.

I thought i would also mention, some patches seem to emit a constant tone without any midi input, all the knobs (including master and headphone volume knobs) when turned on the front panel seem to behave correctly and expectedy so the synthesis seems fine. All the LCD navigation menus seem fine too, its just all patch related loading/saving tasks seem to be shot.

is there any sort of hardware reset i can do to restore it to its original settings or any other advice you might have, im stinging to play it  Or could it be a hardware problem :frowning: >? I hope not as ive just recently moved to iceland and i have no idea where i would get a repair done here.

thanks in advance for your help, its much appreciated

have a nice day
-Dan

im a bit concerned some of my issues correspond to some of these (specifically the note-on problem) which seems hardware related :frowning: the note-on problem only happens on some patches. ie, when borwsing through patches without supplying any midi note data, some of the patches (the same ones all the time i believe..and keep in mind these are the corrupted patches) will just play automatically a long sustained note.

:frowning:

if this is a hardware problem, is it covered by warranty?

ive also mailed these probs to support but was hoping someone here might have another angle/though

thanks again

Hi Dan,
I guess your RME got a hardware problem on the digital board. You should contact Amos.
Rudi

I went in to copyright and reset to the factory defaults (hit the +1 key to find the option).

all seems to be working now…weird, scary, but phew

thanks for your help

Hi Dan,
the RESET has nothing to do with your “saving preset” problem. Maybe you made a mistake when you saved the presets or the problem still exists.
Have fun,
