I’ve received a blank single space panel from Synthesizers.com and intend on building my previously mentioned Minimoog filter behind it.
The circuit is already done and all necessary panel parts are in stock here, but thought some of you more creative types might want to design the front panel.
I intend on selling this module, so if someone’s design is used and wants the module after completion, I’ll compensate them by discounting the price.
Otherwise, this is just something to be creative with. I can’t pay.
So if anyone’s yearning for some non-Chuck Norris creativity, please let me know what you come up with?
Thanks.
KL
Well, let’s see…There should definitely be a STUN and KILL label somewhere on it. How about a SHIMMER and FUZZ label. Your name in cursive should be done on the bottom, with MINIMOOG FILTER on the top. Is this helpful? I would be interested in purchasing such an animal.
Yeah, in thinking about it, maybe there’s not much to really decide on here.
It’s only a single space.
I planned on 1 audio in, 1 or 2 outs and 3 cv in jacks.
Freq, res and depth knobs.
But having said this, there’s probably only a few ways to arrange them anyways.
I want to use Mini knobs, so there’s only so much room.
I can’t mount them horizontally like a Minimoog unless someone has a sideways modular.
Sorry to waste anyone’s time, though ideas are certainly welcome.
Not sure about putting KILL on it, at least with my name.
My initials are already KLL.
Resonance=shimmer Also, how hard could it be to build a sideways modular? That could be really cool! I should totally do that! Thanks for the idea, Kevin! Also, instead of Frequency, label it Freakiness. The highest depth setting should be 6 ft under. So instead of the standard old 1-10, it would go Alive, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 Feet Under. A sideways modular couldn’t have a sequencer…just thought of that.
How about a traditional/nouveau look?
Moog-type skirted knobs, 1/4" jacks, but a cool font style and a colored plate?
I remember Apogee converters that used that kind of style, and they really stood out (in a tasteful and professional way, of course).
Quickly done rough idea.
Will likely change the font style, but have to keep it somewhat simple.
I’m doing panel graphics by using a Roland vinyl cutter to make paint stencils.
Sort of like silk-screening, but fine lines aren’t as easy.
I’m just about done.
Maybe in a day or two I’ll have something to show (and listen to.)
It’s wet and cold here, so the paint will need time to dry.
Sorry, no name on it.
It was just done on a lark anyways.
I had everything but the front panel already here.
I still have no idea what the power connector should be though.
It would look best in a Synthesizers.com or real Moog modular, but those (usually) have different voltages available.
We’ll see.
I HAVE listened to it.
Has that really nice round low end sound like a real Mini.
No idea on price.
Something reasonable for what it is.
I haven’t seen any true Minimoog filter dupes out there for sale.
Most of the ladder filters available aren’t discrete either.
I’ll probably put it on Ebay simply because of how widely it would be advertised.
I also have a dual 4x1 Moog mixer w/mults that I’d probably offer at the same time.
One thing though- I am using the same metal C-frame cage that Moog used on their modules.
I have no idea if it will fit in a Synth.com system.
Anyone out there with real Moog modules in a Synth.com chassis?
From the Synthesizers.com FAQ: You can mount a Moog module in a Synthesizers.com studio cabinet but you would need special wiring to provide power and possibly other signals. Portable cabinets are not deep enough to house a Moog module.

I guess beauty’s only skin deep.
I’ll make it into a Moog module that can also accept synth.com’s power.
Many later Moog modulars have the same power available with their 930 power supplies.
Thank you for the info.
I appreciate it very much.
Anytime I can provide you information, I will. You have provided myself and others with more information than one person should ever need to keep track of, and it’s the least I can do.
