Any Taurus Mods planned?

CV outs?
Audio Input? (Is this even possible)

While shipping the T3 back to the Moog factory (if DIY is made unavailable) for modification would be a pain, this thread remains extremely relevant to my interests.

I strongly support the T3’s sound and anything that furthers the T3 itself as a semi-modular sound source.

I think it is envisaged that any modifications would be by means of a Software update which would be via a download presumably and there wouldn’t be any need for any T3 to be returned to Moog other than for a fault rectification.

I still want to see an Audio Input. Id love to run things through that Taurus FIlter.

CV outs for those who wish to use it as a controller? Id like to transpose sequences without midi.

These would be, technically, firmware updates (that you speak of). Modifications that can be had from Moog are usually of a physical nature – requiring either in-factory modification or the releasing of a DIY kit so that savvy users can tend to said mods themselves.

I think any “add-ons” for the T3 will be via a Firmware update as you say, other than that I feel people will need to wait for the mystical “T4” or perhaps an add-on piece of kit that could be connected via the usb socket.

I seriously doubt theres going to be a T4.

IF Anything , they might do a Taurus RME, but Bass pedals are such a very tiny niche in an already very tiny niche market. I believe that they didn’t anticipate selling as many as they did, hence the “Were going to make 1000” and “There will be one run and one run only.” and then extending that indefinately.

But I don’t see why there couldn’t be any modifications to allow for for Filter Resonance or AUDIO INPUT.

Now, you might be right, there may never be any plans to implement said modifications, but lets hope not!

If I had to guess, the reason to “why not” is the likelihood of # of Taurus owners (out of just 750) that would a) have a use/desire the mode and more importantly b) be in the position to ship the beast in.

So Moog investing in a way to develop a clean way to integrate mods is likely distracting considering the other work in progress and the small, focused staff.

Remember, Phatty CV out mod addressed a potential user base of 6000+, lead the way for ‘from factory’ versions that included CV out which is very desirable for folks that wanted to get into foggers and integrate other Analog gear (like SEMs, DarkEnergy, VoiceOfSaturn and other homebrew) and the Phatty must weigh 1/2 of what a Taurus weighs.

Again, just my opinion and again, I’m guessing : )

They said “You have any ideas for a mod…just ask.”

The audio input to the filter was at one point in the design, per this post from Amos, Mar 22, 2009 from http://www.moogmusic.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=5998&p=48139&hilit=taurus+filter+input#p41645 :

So hopefully schematics could be provided for this. On the original Akai EWI/EVI wind synthesizers, routing external inputs through the VCA and VCF was a vital feature and made the playing experience far more musical when using additional sound sources. I’d love to be able to do that with the Taurus without having to go through an external MF101.

Pedal velocity to the internal sound engine parameters is still my number one need. I hope someone at Moog is reading…

Mods planned?

How about we all step up and keep asking for an Editor/Librarian first, we can then unlock the full potential of the T3 and begin a sharing ring out here!

How bout it everyone!

Good idea but you’re assuming that someone (anyone) from Moog reads these Forums, the apparent lack of any feedback or postings from them would suggest that they don’t so it may be a complete waste of time.

Awhile back I think they really payed a lot of attention here, but I theorize that since the advent of their facebook account, they reach more people through those means so I believe that they have scaled back their efforts here. You can learn more about what Moog music is up to by following them on facebook and twitter than you can by frequenting this forum, and I feel that while this is unfortunate for us (as their loyal daily frequenters) it only makes good business sense.

SD, AG, GK and RL were regular, Even Mike Adams has come on here before to talk to us and answer questions (Taurus Pedals).

An example (not that Im claiming this but you can’t simply ignore it): In the theremin forum I posted a poll which asked What now for the Theremin now that the EWPro was no more. CV outs had a substantial number of clicks and shortly thereafter they released the EW+.

THe same can be said about a Moog chorus flanger, a “more affordable keyboard” and a desire for polyphonics.

While they may not contribute, Moog has built their company around the suggestions of their customers and I believe that this is a tradition that they still adhere to.

I think they listen more than you think they do.

Hi EricK,

It could be as you say in that they are reading the Postings regarding requests for an Editor and have already taken it on board but have not acknowledged or announced it on the Forum for fear of being bombarded with people asking when it will be ready for release?

Who knows, and we all wait in hope!

That and other asinine behavior typical of internet forums lolol.
