Animoog : WISHLIST

I’m finding the Animoog to be a subtly seductive little app. In truth, I wasn’t terribly impressed at first, but the more time I spent noodling around with it, the more I grew to appreciate it.

My biggest wish would be MORE TIMBRES. And, possibly, a scheme for users to input their own Timbres. I realize that a Timbre is not just a sample, but I can’t help thinking about some kind of Sample → Timbre ability. Barring that, a “Moog Timbre Shop” would be nice.

It’s interesting that so many people want MIDI out, but I completely understand why. The retro Buchla-like keyboard (and the extra degree of control it provides) is responsible for a lot of the Animoog’s charm.

Oh, and a nit: Animoog for iPad and iPhone appear to have the same icon. It’d be nice if they differed slightly.

Craig

  • background audio toggle
  • background midi note and cc message reception
  • record on first note received
  • midi cc mapping capabilities

Yes I agreed with this it is best if it should have that above mentioned …

double tap on nodes of the path!!! would sure make it easier than starting paths from scratch every time…

better midi control…

SS25 support would be great!!

oh and an option for hearing the metronome while playing and better MIDI sync options

thanks

On iphone Apps the state of keyboard is’nt save on preset, also on ipad it’s saved. Want this features

It would be nice to have longer recording time, so a person could save an entire song or import/paste a long sample. Ok, now back to making music with my Animoog :sunglasses:

Or maybe have the ability to record to Filtatron??

Saw this in the “Animoog:Midi-Out / CC-Numbers?!” discussion:

yes, this will happen! MIDI out is one of the top development priorities for Animoog right now. Expect all sorts of updates to come, starting as soon as the Minitaur is shipping…

Good stuff is coming…

After getting Used to Animoog on my iPad i also got One for my iPhone.
But i had to learn that Animoog only Works on MIDI Channel One.
It Would be really Great if you add The possibility to select The MIDI Channel, which would allow to use two or even more Animoog in a setup !

It is a Great App. Really !

Cheers
Vlad

G’Day Vlad - How’re the Landrovers going? Good to see that you’re a Moog user too.

Hi Amos & folks - love Animoog, and I’m really happy playing it live. Having said that, I think there are a few things that would help take it to the next level. My requests, in rough order of priority:

\

  1. Multi-touch edit path - multiple fingers on multiple path points

  2. Ability to turn off going into Overdub from Record

  3. White/Pink/Brown noise waveforms

  4. Hold switch for keyboard

  5. Ability to change delay times in non-“analog” manner - truncate/repeat instead of change pitch

  6. Ability to modulate delay times/tap subdivisions

  7. Ability to delete single points in path (instead of having to clear all)

  8. Undo in record?

  9. Audio input in wave selection - just like the old WSAD

  10. Delay feedback, time, and mix as a MOD destination

  11. Clickless looping

  12. User wavetables

  13. Mute switch for delay input, for dub/ambient

  14. Keyboard shouldn’t reset octave location when adding/deleting keys

Looking forward to the next update!

Really want:
+1 For MIDI CC mapping to all functions
+1 For Metronome click while recording
Additional LFO

Would like to have:
+1 Sequencer (16 step with loadable /savable patterns)
+1 Longer Record Length
+1 Adjustable Record Length (time is fine, tempo & measures syncable to MIDI clock is better)
Tempo MIDI sync, or ability to fine tune (knob).

Even if you did nothing though, animoog would still kick ass. Great frigg’n app!!!

I see the Minitaur is starting to ship so updates should be coming soon… The best iOS music app is about to get better

I’d love to have an option on the MIDI OUT that makes each voice be routed to a specific midi channel.

For example, I could route the four synth voices to four separate midi channels. This would be crucial maintain the flexibility that you get within the animoog app in polyphonic synths outside.

If I had the animoog keys y-axis control filter frequency and all info went to one channel, the modulation from the keys would end up conflicting with eachother. But if I had a voice on midi channels 1,2,3,4, I could easily set up a combo patch on my synth that would be as flexible as the moog app where each voice can sweep filter freq independent of eachother. As far as I can tell there’s really no way to get the full glory of this keyboard unless that’s an option. Am I right about that? Each voice on the animoog is super flexible in app, this would maintain that out of the app too.

+1 midi CC mappings out
+1 User Wavetables
+1 for Sampling and additional timbres

+1 for individual MIDI channel per voice

+1 Delay time, feedback, mix as a modulation destination.

How about an option for longer keys or dual keyboards for performance?

More suggestions… I’ll stop soon.

Mod destinations for envelope ADSR and envelope amount forall envelopes.
More extreme pitch mods.
Waveshapes from timbres as a mod source
Bit crusher as a destination
Sampler Rate reducer as an effect
Ability to tune each timbre and to modulate those frequencies

Can you explain this one in a little more detail? All your other suggestions are clear to me (and good, if do-able!).

Thanks!

Basically being able to tune the timbres means they have their own frequency setting, so you can pitch them up or down independent of eachother like you can an oscillator on a normal synth.

Then you could make any of the different timbers tuned differently. so as the path travels through the x-y pad the pitches would change. Then you could make those modulation destinations, which opens things up to FM synthesis in a way that isn’t limited to the pitchbend.

Please add osc (open sound control) support so I can use animoog with Linux via wifi.

Thank you.
