I got the midi out upgrade so that I could record the midi data into ableton and be able to edit. However, there doesn’t appear to be a setting to turn local control off, so I get duplicate events which is causing glitches when I play.
The setup:
Animoog sends to Network Session 1, receives from Network Session 1. Ableton has an external instrument which receives from/sends to network session 1 and receives audio through the audio interface.
The only workaround I have found is to turn off MIDI IN on the animoog when I’m playing/recording (it still sends data to ableton and it gets sent back to Animoog but it ignores since MIDI is off). Then when I want to play back a track from Ableton, I have to turn MIDI IN on Animoog to Network Session 1. (Alternatively I could just set midi out to OFF in Ableton when I’m playing/recording, but then I’d have to re-enable it to playback recorded data…)
It seems like there should be a local control OFF setting in Animoog that takes midi data from the keyboard/controls and sends it out, but doesn’t send it into the synth locally, instead just using the incoming data from Ableton… Am I just missing something?
Alternatively maybe there’s a way to set this up in Ableton so that it only sends recorded midi data and doesn’t pass thru…
