Has anyone updated to iOS 8 (released today) and tested the current Animoog 2.1.1 with it? Anyone found issues?
I want to upgrade to iOS 8, but still want to play Animoog from time to time I know weâll most probably have an update to the Animoog app soon, but until this actually happens, what about the current version under iOS 8?
A lot of music apps from the âBIGâ names are suffering - cubasis has some Audiobus issues (update is already with apple for approval), iElectribe, iMS20 both crash on startup (Korg are currently testing and have promised an update schedule for the apps), iMini has audiobus issues (no word from Retronyms as yet)
I have recently rediscovered animoog after not using it for a while and am patiently waiting for the update. Shame I already upgraded to iOS8, as most of my software now doesnât work, I shouldnât have been so eager, and I should have waited.
Good to know! The iPhone version has been updated at the end of August. For the iPad version, it has been more than a year ago! But an update is coming⊠And hopefully, this iOS 8 incompatibility issue will speed up the update process??
We have updated both applications and both are currently in testing now and appear to work properly in iOS 8. We still have more testing to do before submitting them to Apple and expect to submit in a week or so. We will alert the public when they go live in the App Store.
Thanks!!

I bought an iPad and Animoog literally in the last few days and there was no warning that it wouldnât work with iOS8 (in fact the specs actually say iOS7 or later).
More communication on this would be good as there are many threads like this on many different forums about Animoog.
I made the mistake of updating to iOS 8 too early, but it is still possible to revert back to iOS 7 as the firmware is still available from apple. I just googled the instructions. It can seem complicated, but it was actually very easy. You will need to have your ipad connected to your computer and iTunes. It canât be done via wifi or over the cellular network.
I have no presets IAPs to restore, only MIDI Out, for which the restore function is currently broken.
The app informs me I need to purchase MIDI Out, I go to either restore or purchase - in either case the store recognises the purchase - and then it confirms that the IAP has been restored.
However, subsequent attempts to initiate MIDI Out result in the same thing, regardless of app-quitting and restarting, iPad restarting, or remove and reinstall.
Seems to work in general under Ios8, but when starting it as IAA instrument from Cubasis, I donât get any sound from Animoog (driving it from the virtual keyboard in Cubasis), no matter Midi configuration in Animoog (but Midi in general works). Is this supposed to work?
We are working expediently on a release that fully resolves any and all of the issues you have brought forth, and expect to have it ready shortly.
We do apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
The new iPhone update still has not fixed Restore Purchases, it is therefore impossible to use Midi Out.
May I suggest actually testing prior to release? This latest makes the 7th update in about 3 months. Thatâs pretty embarrassing.
Itâs the best damn ios synth so itâs a shame.
By the way, I love my Sub 37, it blew away all my expectations. I love Moog, but someone in the app department should be sweeping the floors or dumping the trash instead of releasing 2 broken app updates a month.
the way I see it, someone at Moog is busy building synths. Probably the firmware guys happened to find some extra time to tinker with iOS software coding and offered us this amazing iOS app. I have nothing but praise. I do hope they are able to give it the time necessary to keep it updated and running smoothly.
The way you see it, is projecting the ideal over the facts, rose colored glasses some would call it. What they are in fact busy doing is making and releasing at least 2 broken app updates a month. iPhone and iPad updates in the last 3 months are a total of 6. 2 for the iPad, 4 for the iPhone, all broken. If they actually get it right next time it will then be 8 in total in just a few months.
The way it actually is, is the way I see it. I paid for the apps and I paid for all of the In-App Purchases. I also paid for my Sub 37 and am still waiting for the âIncluded in the boxâ Editor-Librarian but that is probably on hold while they run in circles wasting time instead of just simply actually testing the app update completely before releasing it once and then move on to other things. Restore Purchases broken, MIDI expansion broken, Audiobus broken. Whoever writes the description of the updates has borrowed your rose colored glasses because they claim to have nailed it with each update. I love Animoog and I love my Sub 37 and I just love Moog in general. It is not love to applaud failure and wasted time and resources, that is enabling self-destruction, not love.
EDITED:âŠTodayâs âUpdateâ still has a broken MIDI-OUT, yes still broken. BUSY BUSY
I was so happy with the new update ⊠but midi-out is still not working.
I keep getting the âMIDI OUT DISABLED, PURCHASE IN STOREâ while iâve re installed even the app itself.
Please help âŠ
