Analog synths in storage.

Friends,
when the tree came through our house, one of the things that went into storage was a Yamaha B4cr organ.

Its been sitting in storage since may or June, not climate controlled.

Do you think that its worth getting out of storge or that I should just donate it to the Good Will?

Eric

Did you use it before it went in storage ? did you like the sounds you could get on it ? Do you see a use running iot through your MoogerFoogers.

At least check it out to make sure everything still works after being storage without climate control. It may need more repair than it’s worth. Then again if it has a sound you must have…

Good luck

Didn’t use it a lot but I didn’t get around to it. Its just a cheesy sounding 70’s organ.

Its just the principle. I value instruments so highly and its a travesty to me to let this thing sit in storage. It was in absolute pristing shape, looking just as it had the day it was purchased minus 30 years of aging.

Eric

Don’t get bogged down in regret for having let it sit like that, because that will only mean that it will sit that much longer! If it hasn’t sat in a puddle all this time, or if the room it’s in hasn’t been excessively damp, then it’s probably still okay. So go get it before any damage actually occurs! And, if there is any damage, then fix what you can, and accept the rest as “character!” Everything was pristine, at one time… Life happens, and a little mojo never hurt anyone.

My $0.02, humbly submitted…

I had a B3 and a Leslie that were pristine once. Maybe 40-50 years ago. When I got it it showed all the scars of being on the road for a decade. (Was one of Ray Charles backline instruments when I got it.) It had a 3 way mixer and 1/4"outs and some other mods and worked flawlessly. I always threw a drape over it and used it until I needed to pay rent during a particularly bleek time and sold it to a church. (Where it still lives with a drape on it 25 years later!) If you like the sound or can’t reproduce it with your other machines, I’d say dig it out and start to use it again. I’ve since bought an A-100 and 2 Leslies to replace the old B-3. I NEED that sound and feel!
