Got a Voyager SOLAR recently. Along with the panel lights not working, I can’t seem to figure out how to get to the additional sound banks! An addition to the manual briefly runs over the process. “send a MIDI CC0 value followed immediately by a MIDI CC32 value 000-006 to select bank A through G”…huh?
Does this mean I have to MIDI up the Voyager and send a MIDI control through my sequencing software? If so, my software does not have CC0 (Control Channel) “0”.
What if your playing live and don’t happen to have your computer rig with you?
I can’t find anything in the Master or Edit functions on the Voyager that allow you to do this internally?
Why didn’t they program it just show up as you scroll through the presets like any other keyboard?!?!?!!!
Can somebody please explain to me how to access these sounds in “Laymans” terms?
I LOVE the sound and build of my Voyager, but am starting to question my purchase as the headaches start to build one after the other!!!
On the control panel use the Cursor and the up and down arrows to go to the different banks. The external audio pot allows you to scroll through the selected bank quickly. The scrolling via the external audio pot is turned on and off via the on/off switch next to it. Once you find a preset you want hit Enter.
Thanks for the response. Yes, I’ve done that but only get bank “D”. The one that begins with Preset D:1 “I’m Ba-aack!” and ending with preset D128 “Windy Night”. So basically I can only access preset bank “D”. I should be able to get banks “A” through “G” with OS 3.2. Do everyone else’s banks ALL show up as scrollable menus on powering up using OS 3.2?
They don’t all show up scrollable. Only the bank selected can be scrolled. You have to change the banks via the Cursor and arrows and then scroll. If you are only getting one bank despite the cursor/arrow method, then perhaps your Voyager was sold to the store before the 3.0 upgrade board was issued.
Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it. I checked my OS though and it is 3.2 released in March '06, so I absolutely have the latest version. I was checking in the PDF that comes with the OS3.2 download on the Moog site though and, unless I’m reading wrong, you not only need OS 3.2 to access the sounds, but also the “3X hardware upgrade”!!! Of course the 3X Hardware upgrade is not free! $345 to send it into Moog plus shipping both ways! According to the Nova Musik site, my SOLAR was to ship with “896 user presets”. Something is definitely wrong here. Can anybody access all the banks without the 3.X upgrdae?
You can have 3.2 working without the upgrade board and extra presets. I ran into an electric blue in a store that had 3.2 but no board. As soon as I tried to access another bank of presets and failed did I realize the Voyager only had the software upgrade. I would call Moog and talk to tech support. They should be able to clear this up quickly. And hold onto that sales receipt.
Have you tried holding down the cursor button, and while holding cursor, pressing the “+1” or “-1” (up/down) buttons? This is normally how you change banks. There should have been an addendum included with the manual (a photocopied sheaf of paper, essentially) with this information plus the names/locations of all the presets.
If you don’t have this, I can mail you a copy. Also if you care to send in your Voyager to have the backlighting fixed (no charge, of course) I can also make sure that all your presets and bank-changing abilities are in working order.
After finding out how to access the extra banks on my RME, I have realised that the first bank of presets have been replaced by the set that starts with “I’m Back”
So I have this bank twice. How do I get the first set back?
My RME is running version 3.0 according to the panel
