Are we seeing the regular or ltd version pictured? When the notes say ‘special Moog wood’ on the ltd, that doesnt mean that the reg version will not have wood, right?
thanx for any info!
its the limited pictured, and im not 100% but i think the reg will have plastic sides(someone please tell me that it isnt soo!)
Yes, apparently the Stage Edition will feature plastic sides. I know, I don’t like the sound of that, either. ![]()
Moog says the tribute will ship at the end of May.
A second edition, the “Stage,” will have plastic sides and a different color scheme to the LEDs.
The best part is that Moog is hoping to get the price down much closer to a street price of US$1,000.
So for roughly 1500
You could have a stage edition and a control processor to soup up the stage .
Rip off the plastic sides and make your own from your choice of materials.

They might sell the wooden side panels separately.
i really hope there will be a stage version with wood. i wonder what the lights will look like on the stage edition. hopefully very colorful and joyful.

how about a solar colour scheme!
i really don’t like this whole plastic thing, i mean they had wood as one of the clues! does that mean clues only apply to limited editions. pah i’m sure they’d sell the panels seperately, for replacement at least?
As I have said before, I can’t see how wood increases the price by hundreds of dollars. Sure, it is more expensive than plastic, but I think most people would be prepared to pay the extra cost. In any case, wood is something we’ve come to associate with Moog - it’s kind of a seal of quality - and plastic would definitely cheapen the product, as well as making it cheaper.
It will be interesting to see how this change of ‘build quality’ (for this will surely be how it is regarded) affects sales.

maybe it’s very cool looking plastic, for instance orange plastic, or red plastic. something funky.
who knows…
I’m sure that moog does NOT want any of their products to ever be thought of as cheap. Its horrible to even hear everyones concern about this. somethings off here.
See my post ‘about sides..’ topic. hopefully moog will be aware of the fears.
There is nothing cool about plastic - no matter what colour it is (or who makes it).
Aluminum would be nice, like the back - with wood trim.
The people who are really into Corvettes had a very similar reaction when the new Z06 came out with new headlights that weren’t the traditional “Corvette Headlights” that everyone associated with the car. Some people found it very tough to swallow, and others were OK with the change.
I reckon plastic sides would be cool, unless they look cheap and tacky like the first version of the MPC1k. They’d have to be black, or at least dark. Or clear!
How about simulated wood
You know the plastic that is painted to look like wood.
Then it would wear off eventually unevenly and make it looklike real classic before its time

DOUBLE POST Sorry
I hate, I mean I really despise that laminated chipboard stuff. ![]()
I’d like to see what they do with the metal backing where bob’s signature is… I hope theres just a big effing moog logo.
