A Slim for my Sub or a CP251?

Hey folks. I’m at a cross roads here. I’m looking to add more Moog to my kit and I’m thinking; what should I get first to accompany my Sub Phatty? A CP251, or a Slim Phatty?
Of course with the Slim I can play with connecting them in a few creative ways, albiet not CV because neither one has CV out… OR, I could play with the CV in on my Sub with a CP251.
The thing steering me away from the CP251 at this point is that I can modulate those paramaretrs and more with midi, so why bother if its really only contributing fun and a physical connection?
I can send all manner of LFO shapes VIA midi CCs, and in even more complex ways and to more destinations than a CP251 can. I’m talking myself out of it at this point.

I welcome and appreciate any feedback on this. I know a lot of you have all 3, or a pairing of at least 2.

Thanks in advance-
C.

Just one of many opinions I’m sure you will be offered…

Although I don’t have a Sub, I’m otherwise “Phatty-heavy” these days.
The Slim would make a GREAT 2nd mono synth, and from what I’ve read and heard online about other Moog synths, the Slim and Little Phatty’s have a “sound” that is uniquely their own.
VERY capable, great range, and a LOT of “tweakability”, although it does take some menu-diving (or editor, or customized MIDI controller {more to come on that one  }) to get to some of the good stuff.

Not to mention that layered monosynth sounds can be VERY cool… :sunglasses:

The more Moog gear you add, the more a CP-251 will come in handy.
It will allow you to sculpt some sounds that even the synth’s MIDI capabilities can’t quite achieve.
If you start adding MoogerFoogers to the gear arsenal, a CP-251 almost becomes a no-brainer.
Just keep in mind that a CP-251 is “pure CV” ~ no MIDI or computer connections, but none really needed, either.

My advice -

Stop.
Quit while you’re ahead.
Moog G.A.S. is an affliction that is easy to get into, and hard to escape… :open_mouth:

Randy

As it turns out. I got both, added a CP251, Slim Phatty, and a MF102

Cool -
Congrats, and have fun!

Hey cjolson80

First congrats on the new gear

I have a question for you , I actually posted it in a separate topic so I would like to hear your opinion as you have both the slim and the Sub :
