I just wanted to give an appropriate Salute to MOOG MUSIC for the very fact that they are clearly apart from all the rest when it comes to their products. While all of the other keyboard companies release and discontinue products so rapidly it will make you spin.
Moog Music has a different approach which I believe has been with them since the very beginning. While the market does have a say in whether a product remains on the assembly line, they always strive for a product that has staying power, and I think they’ve done that very well.
The Voyager is a shining example of a Synth well designed and well thought out with an open end architecture allowing them to update and improve it rather than discontinue and discard it. Moog is still producing Voyagers. They are still coming up with updates and improvements. And it is still probably the most desired keyboard on the market. Little Phatty seems to be following it it’s father’s footsteps as well. Same for the Moogerfooger line. In todays world, you have to admit that is one amazing achievement.
Think about that, fellow knob-twisters… How many companies out there have managed that kind of record with their product line?
Way to go, Moog Music. Way to go.
