A hard decision

ok that must sound very weird but what do you think.

i want to buy something new for my electronic music.
but i dont know if i should buy a LP so that i can make more new songs and have a reeeeally good synth i want to have since 4 years or a dj set because i also want to start djing a bit.
i know both are completely different and i dont know but i think the moog would be a better investigation…but i cannot decide…

I would definitely get the Little Phatty, because down the line you could get a DJ set, and because you already have the LP, you can sequence that and run it through your turntables. Just an idea.

Thats a hard one. It really depends on what your passion is. I mean if you get the LP that will be it. If you spend the same figure for some good turntables, thenyou have to start collecting vinyl.

True techno is spun…at least thats what some purists think.

At least the LP is self contained.

If you get the LP then your DJ itch will need to be scratched (no pun intended), but if you get your tables then it might be another 4 years before you get a synth, depending on your situation.

I don’t know how you could run the LP thru ur turntables, but you could definately run your tables through your LP.

Eric

LP 100%. you can always dj on a laptop for free.

Who’s giving away free laptops?

these days used laptops are dime-a-dozen.

LP. Ableton, AKAI APC40. Your golden

Dark is right, but using Ableton with loops made with a Phatty would be even better.

I had to sell my 3 Technics a while ago so need to get another set up and while I’d love a pair of the new CDJ 2000’s they’re a lot of coin. APC is both the cheapest option, as you dont need a mixer, and the one that lets you be more creative. It really is a wonderful piece of kit with all the midi mapping done before you plug it in. Your options of EFX vst’s are endless with plenty of knobs to control them. You also don’t need to worry about the beat matching part of djing. Only pain in the ass is the preparation and warping but if you get Live 8 it’s a whole lot easier.

I guess it comes down to whether or not you want to create your own sounds or remix and warp sounds other people have already made. Also, how are you at playing keyboards? A lot of difference between a keyboard and a turntable/laptop as far as playability. Personally, I love my LP and wouldn’t trade it for the world. Of course, you could buy one thing, and next year get the other thing. The possibilities are endless with a Moog, whereas a dj set is limited by the records/songs you choose to buy/pirate.

I just bought 2 Korg units: Electribe MX & microXL.

Now I can DJ! But I won’t. :open_mouth:

Get a little Phatty and make your own music rather than DJing playing other peoples music

Heres my Little phatty on display getting daily use and next to it a pair of technics 1210’s sat on top of each other getting no use at all , that just about sums it up for me

my turntables and the LP2 are essentiall for what I do

so doe’s your dog operate the foot pedal for you

she’s my producer
